Tips for parents (tipy pro rodiče): 
budete-li si s dětmi doma prohlížet knížky, obzvlášť o vánočních prázdninách, poproste je, aby vám ukazovaly a anglicky pojmenovávaly věci, které již znají (např. house, roof, door, window, eyes, nose, mouth, face)

Memory game (pexeso s novými i již známými slovíčky); hra s obrázkovými kartičkami domů, které byly rozmístěny po třídě a děti měly za úkol doběhnout a dotknout se kartičky podle zadaných instrukcí např. "dotkni se domu s oranžovou (červenou, bílou) střechou, dotkni se oranžového domu" apod. 

Activities (aktivity): 
kreslili jsme dům se střechou, dveřmi a pěti okny; poté jsme si sedli do kroužku a zpívali písničku a přitom si jednotlivé části ukazovali

Tips for parents (tipy pro rodiče): 
poproste děti, aby vám doma spočítaly všechna okna a dveře. Máte-li doma více jak 10 oken, mohou děti počítat jen okna v jedné místnosti.

PŘÍBĚHY - STORIES

Unit 1:

Hippo, Monkey, Dog and Cat like school. They go to school every day.

At school, Monkey opens his bag. He takes out his crayons, he takes out his pen and he takes out his book, but … Oh, dear! Where are his pencils? Monkey looks in the bag again. ‘No pencils. Oh, dear!’ Monkey says. What’s the matter, Monkey?’ says Hippo. ‘Oh, dear!’ says Monkey. ‘No pencils.’

‘We can help,’ says Hippo. Hippo, Dog and Cat give Monkey some pencils.

‘Oh, now I have 1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8…9…10. Ten pencils. Thank you, Hippo. Thank you, Dog. Thank you, Cat.’


Unit 2:

It’s night-time and Hippo, Monkey, Dog and Cat are in the garden. They can see the moon. ‘Look!’ says Hippo. ‘The moon is round. It has a face.’

‘Oh, yes! Look! It has two eyes, a nose and a mouth,’ says Monkey. ‘I know – let’s smile at the moon!’ says Dog.

So Hippo smiles at the moon. Monkey smiles at the moon. Dog smiles at the moon. Cat smiles at the moon.

And the moon? … The moon … smiles back.


Unit 3:

This is Hippo’s little house. Look! It has a roof, it has a blue door and it has four windows. 1, 2, 3, 4. And there’s Hippo. Hello, Hippo.

This is Monkey’s little house. Look! It has a roof, it has a yellow door and it has four windows. 1, 2, 3, 4. And there’s Monkey. Hello, Monkey.

This is Dog’s little house. Look! It has a roof, it has a red door and it has four windows. 1, 2, 3, 4. And there’s Dog. Hello, Dog.

This is Cat’s little house. Look! It has a roof, it has a red door and it has four windows. 1, 2, 3, 4. And there’s … Oh, where’s Cat? Ah, look! There’s Cat … asleep. Oh, Cat!


Unit 4:

Hippo, Monkey, Dog and Cat are very happy. Elephant has come with her family. Elephant says, ‘This is my mummy and this is my daddy.’

‘This is my brother and this is my sister.’

‘And this is my … Oh! … Grandma? Where’s Grandma? Grandma! Grandma! Where are you?

‘Shh. Look!’ says Mummy Elephant. ‘There’s Grandma, asleep under the tree – with Cat.’ ‘Oh, Cat!’


Unit 5:

Hippo likes the weather when it’s raining. Hippo has some wellies.

Monkey likes the weather when it’s windy. Monkey has a coat.

Dog likes the weather when it’s snowing. He has a scarf and some gloves.

Cat likes the weather when it’s sunny. She has a hat. Oh, Cat!


Unit 6:

It’s sunny and hot. Hippo, Monkey, Dog and Cat are in the garden. Elephant is in the garden, too. ‘Oh, dear! Where are the flowers?’ says Hippo. ‘Yes. Where are the flowers?’ says Monkey. ‘There aren’t any flowers,’ says Cat.            

‘Don’t worry. I can help,’ says Elephant. ‘Look!’ Elephant waters the garden.

‘Look at the flowers!’ says Hippo. ‘Wow! Red, yellow, blue, orange and purple flowers!’

‘Thank you, Elephant. Thank you. The flowers are lovely.


Unit 7:

Hippo, Monkey, Dog and Cat are playing in the garden. ‘Slowly, slowly, slowly. What am I?’ asks Dog. ‘Erm, are you a tortoise?’ asks Monkey. ‘Yes, I am. Clever Monkey!’

‘My turn. Slowly, slowly, slowly. What am I?’ asks Monkey. ‘Erm, are you an elephant?’ ‘Yes, I am. Clever Hippo!’

‘My turn. Snap, snap, snap!’ ’Are you a crocodile?’ ‘Yes, I am. Clever Cat!’

‘My turn. Zzzzzz.’ ‘I know,’ says Dog. ‘Are you a sleeping lion?’ Cat opens one eye. ‘Yes, I am. Clever Dog!‘ she says.


Unit 8:

Hippo, Monkey, Dog and Cat are shopping. Hippo says ‘Let’s buy four pears!’ Monkey says ‘Let’s buy four bananas!’ Dog says ‘Let’s buy four apples!’ Cat says ‘Let’s buy four oranges!’

So Hippo buys 1 … 2 … 3 … 4 pears. Monkey buys 1 … 2 … 3 … 4 bananas. Dog buys 1 … 2 … 3 … 4 apples and Cat buys 1 … 2 … 3 … 4 oranges.

Hippo, Monkey, Dog and Cat are very happy and they walk back to the garden.

Hippo counts her pears. ‘1 … 2 … 3 … 4.’ Dog counts his apples. ‘1 … 2 … 3 … 4.’ Cat counts her oranges. ‘1 … 2 … 3 … 4.’

Monkey counts his bananas. ‘1 … ’ ‘Oh, Monkey!’


Unit 9:

Hippo, Monkey, Dog and Cat are at the seaside. ‘Let’s play in the sand with our buckets and spades!’ says Hippo. ‘Hooray!

Hippo makes a house. Monkey makes a banana. ‘Oh, what a lovely house!’ says Dog. ‘And what a lovely banana!’ says Cat.

Dog makes a face. ‘Oh, clever Dog!’ says Hippo. ‘Oh, where is Cat?’ says Monkey.

‘… Oh, Cat!’
